Life

A life worth living

We all get caught up sometimes in the material things in life.  The house, the car, the things you would love to have.  Sometimes even, we get caught up in being the best that others want or need us to be.  For example, the degree we have, whether we go to college or not, how much money we’re making at our job…

I have been caught up in all those thoughts recently.  I’ve recently acquired an apartment and am moving out in 40 days (yes I’ve counted!)  I’ve been picking up more hours at work and am juggling school full-time on top of that.  The only issue is, I get paid minimum wage at my job.  The money isn’t that great, especially for what I do.  I’ve been so caught up in the money aspect, I’ve lost sight of what really matters.

So, what does really matter?  You see, that’s a trick question.  What really matters is all dependent on your priorities.  For me, I’ve always told myself it doesn’t matter how much money you make, as long as you love what you do.  It’s easy to stray from that mindset in today’s society though.

I may not get paid a lot, but I work with amazing co-workers, work in a place where I’d love to visit constantly, and I have amazing supervisors who will work with me.  I have no real stress when it comes to the job and when I come home from work, I can easily shed all my work issues at the door.  That is worth more than minimum wage.

This job, even though it’s not the most glamorous of jobs, is something I like to do!  It doesn’t feel like a job most of the time and I’m happy!  It makes me feel like I’m not wasting my life, which is important.

So, I end this post with a question for all my readers.  What matters to you most?  What do you REALLY want in life?  What makes your life worth living?
